Boundary Lubricity of Vegetable-Oil-Derived Trimethylolpropane (TMP) Ester

چکیده

Vegetable-oil-based biolubricants are an excellent alternative to conventional lubricants. Instead of focusing on novel feedstocks, these should be further elucidated based their fatty acid composition, which influences tribological properties. Therefore, the study utilises gene expression programming (GEP) derive a boundary lubricity model for vegetable-oil-derived trimethylolpropane (TMP) esters, considering composition (saturation and monounsaturation levels), load speed. Neat vegetable oil blends from seven feedstocks selected following wide range profiles synthesise TMP esters using two-stage transesterification process. The spin-coated wear discs that subsequently rotated against ball purpose-built tribometer. frictional performance with balanced saturation levels measured improve it at higher speeds. GEP is statistically evaluated by adopting friction data, showing good generalisation predictability capability. demonstrates decreases increasing ester. allows prediction profile, providing platform optimise such biolubricant desired applications.

The performance of modified jatropha-oil based trimethylolpropane(TMP) ester on tribology characteristic for sustainable metalworking fluids (MWFs)

Metalworking fluids (MWFs) are widely used in machining process to improve its performance and product quality. It acts as a coolant and lubricant to reduce heat between the contact of two surfaces. However, commercial MWFs used in the industry were usually from petroleum-based oil which is toxic to the environment, difficult to dispose and caused significant health. Therefore, it is essential ...

Experimental analysis of tribological properties of biolubricant with nanoparticle additive

This study examined the tribological properties of two lubricating oils, paraffin oil and biolubricant added with TiO2 nanoparticles used as additives. Biolubricant used in this experimental was derived from palm oil-based TMP (trimethylolpropane) ester. The TMP ester is produced from palm oil, which is biodegradable and has high lubricity properties such as a higher flash point temperature and...

Palm oil derived trimethylolpropane triesters synthetic lubricants and usage in industrial metalworking fluid.

Trimethylolpropane triesters are biodegradable synthetic lubricant base oil alternative to mineral oils, polyalphaolefins and diesters. These oils can be produced from trimethylolpropane (TMP) and fatty acid methyl esters via chemical or enzymatic catalyzed synthesis methods. In the present study, a commercial palm oil derived winter grade biodiesel (ME18) was evaluated as a viable and sustaina...

Development of Optimum Synthesis Method for Transesterification of Palm Oil Methyl Esters and Trimethylolpropane to Environmentally Acceptable Palm Oil-based Lubricant Development of Optimum Synthesis Method for Transesterification of Palm Oil Methyl Esters and Trimethylolpropane to Environmentally Acceptable Palm Oil-based Lubricant

Chemical synthesis of palm oil trimethylolpropane esters was conducted via transesterification of palm oil methyl esters (POME) with trimethylolpropane (TMP). The palm oil TMP esters are potential biodegradable base stock for lubricant production. The influence of the main operating variables, namely, temperatures and pressures, molar ratio of palm methyl esters to TMP, and catalyst amount was ...
